House of
Ruth, through its comprehensive program, believes that treatment of
the HIV/AIDS is not only found in a doctor's office, but is also found
in the community. House of Ruth also believes that in order to treat
an infected individual, it must start by treating the entire family.
House of Ruth is an association of persons caring for families
and individuals affected by HIV and AIDS. We provide advocacy and
support for their physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual
needs.
Our Goals
House of Ruth is committed to being an advocate
for families and individuals by:
- Understanding the dynamics in affected
families
- Identifying all available resources and agencies
- Seeking to overcome the lack of understanding about the transmission of the illness
- Involving the community
House of Ruth works to keep families together
under times of stress by:
- Understanding the importance of housing, medical and educational
services. These services play vital roles in helping individuals
obtain a sense of self-worth
- Giving support in obtaining suitable housing
- Stressing the important role that a family plays in the life
and well-being of an infected individual
House of Ruth strives to provide complete and
comprehensive support for affected families and individuals by:
- Providing emotional, psychological and spiritual support to
empower affected persons to become their own advocates in fighting
the illness
